1. Purpose
Clear a TikTok Shop order that sits in Shipsidekick looking ready to ship but never produces a shipping label, and decide for yourself whether it should be shipped at all.
2. Scope
TikTok Shop orders shipping on TikTok's own label service. The same reasoning applies to any sales channel that issues its own labels, but the screens named here are TikTok's.
3. How to recognise it
All of the following are true at once:
The order shows as Confirmed in Shipsidekick and looks ready to ship.
Buying the label fails every time, immediately, no matter who tries.
The failure mentions the order's status — wording along the lines of the order must be ready to ship.
The order's Activity timeline shows the same failure repeating over days, including attempts nobody made by hand.
The pattern that confirms it: the failure never changes. A label that fails for a rate, address or weight problem fails differently once you change something. This one is identical every time, because nothing at your end is causing it.
4. Procedure — step 1, check TikTok first
Do this before touching anything in Shipsidekick. TikTok decides whether a label can be issued, so TikTok holds the answer.
Open the order in TikTok Seller Center. Fastest route: the order in Shipsidekick carries a link straight to its TikTok page. Otherwise search the order number in Seller Center.
Read the order's status there, and compare it with what Shipsidekick shows.
What TikTok shows | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Cancelled | The order is dead. TikTok will never issue a label for it. | Do not ship it. Go to section 6. |
Buyer cancellation requested, or any hold | TikTok has paused the order pending a decision. | Resolve it in Seller Center. TikTok releases the label once cleared. |
Awaiting shipment, and the ship-by date has passed | TikTok may cancel it shortly, or already treats it as late. | Contact TikTok Seller Support. Do not ship on assumption. |
Awaiting shipment, ship-by date still ahead | Genuinely still live; Shipsidekick and TikTok have drifted apart. | Go to section 5. |
Check the ship-by date on the TikTok order while you are there. An order past it is very likely to be cancelled by TikTok whatever its status says today.
5. Procedure — step 2, bring Shipsidekick back in line
Only if TikTok confirms the order is still live and shippable. This re-reads the order from TikTok.
Open the order in Shipsidekick.
From the actions menu, choose Resync Order. If it is available, it pulls TikTok's current status. Skip to step 6.
If Resync Order is greyed out with Order has in-progress tasks, the stock has already been picked and you must release it first — continue below.
Choose Unallocate Order and confirm the warning about the order being in an active pick run. This returns the picked units to stock.
Choose Resync Order, now selectable.
Choose Allocate Order to send it back through picking, then buy the label as normal.
Physically return the stock. Unallocating returns the units on paper only. Someone must take them out of the tote and put them back, or the next count will be wrong.
6. Procedure — closing a cancelled order
Confirm the order reads Cancelled in TikTok Seller Center.
Cancel the order in Shipsidekick.
Any picked stock is returned automatically. Physically return it to its location.
The repeating label failures stop. Nothing further is needed.
7. Why this happens
Shipsidekick holds its own copy of every TikTok order, kept current by updates TikTok sends as the order changes. Almost always this works — the copy tracks TikTok within seconds.
Occasionally an update never arrives. Shipsidekick then keeps showing the order exactly as it looked when it first came in — ready to ship — while TikTok has moved it somewhere else entirely, most often to cancelled. Every label attempt asks TikTok for a label on an order TikTok no longer considers shippable, and is refused.
Nothing you did causes this, and no amount of retrying fixes it. The stale copy is on our side; the authoritative status is TikTok's. That is why section 4 comes first.
8. Verification
TikTok Seller Center and Shipsidekick show the same status for the order.
Either a label has been bought, or the order is cancelled in both systems.
No new failures are appearing on the order's Activity timeline.
Any stock that was unallocated is physically back in its location.
9. Constraints and caveats
Never ship an order TikTok has cancelled. The buyer has been refunded. You will not be paid for the goods or the postage, and the shipment cannot be reconciled against any TikTok order.
Resync Order is unavailable once an order has been picked. This is deliberate — it protects picking work already done — but it means the release-and-resync detour in section 5 is currently the only route. Expect this to improve.
Repeated retries are not harmless. Each one adds a failure to the timeline and hides the real history. Once you have seen the failure twice, stop and work through section 4.
Do not empty the tote to release one order. Totes hold picks for many orders; emptying one releases all of them.
10. Worked example
An order arrived from TikTok on a Thursday evening and allocated normally. It was picked into a tote the following Sunday. Every label attempt from Saturday onward failed with the same status message, roughly seventeen attempts across five days — some by warehouse staff, the rest automatic retries. Shipsidekick showed the order as Confirmed and ready throughout.
The order's copy in Shipsidekick had never received a single update after it first arrived. A near-identical order from the same shop, failing the same way two days earlier, had eventually updated to Cancelled — at which point Shipsidekick released its stock by itself.
The tell was the silence, not the error. Once nobody could produce a label, the question stopped being what is wrong with this order and became what does TikTok actually say about it. One look at Seller Center would have answered it on day one.
